Joan Laporta has not had a quiet day since he became president of FC Barcelona. Ousmane Dembélé continues without renewing his contract that ends in June 2022 and is on the way to becoming a problem.
As reported from Sports world, the player’s agent, Moussa Sissoko, did not give any response to the renewal proposal made by the Barça officials and prefers to wait for the player to recover from his injury and play again. These evasions do not like anything at the club, and although the player says he wants to stay, he does not finish taking the step, so at Barça they are already getting worse.
If Dembélé decides not to renew before January, Barcelona already has a plan to follow with the French. In the first place, they would try to find an outlet in the winter market to prevent him from leaving for free at the end of the season, they point out from the aforementioned medium. The Frenchman has several candidates among the greats of Europe, although it remains to be seen if they are willing to pay for a player who would be free in six months. And secondly, the negotiations for the landing of his replacement: Raheem Sterling could be accelerated.
The Manchester City player has been sounding for a long time as a possible reinforcement for the Catalans and the possible departure of the French player would bring the English winger closer to the Camp Nou. Sterling himself would welcome his signing for Barcelona, even in the next winter market, since this season he has lost prominence in Pep Guardiola’s team.
Thus, the decision that Dembélé makes in the coming months could lead to one of the great movements of the winter transfer market.
