The Cantabrian Health Service (SCS) will reschedule surgical activity starting next November to reduce waiting lists, after the number of patients waiting for an operation has increased, according to the latest data published by the Ministry of Health. , as of June 30.
The Minister of Health, César Pascual, has explained to RNE that the lack of anesthetists this summer in the Valdecilla Hospital area has “disrupted” the shock plan to reduce the lists, so now – he has indicated – priorities are being changed to try to end the year with fewer patients pending an operation and, above all, with less waiting time. Thus, he has advocated making “an extraordinary effort” to “change priorities” on the list and “replace patients,” and he has hoped, with this work that he is already doing, to reach December meeting the objectives,” according to statements to the station collected by Europe Press.
