It was presented during the Triple-I event dedicated to the world of indie video games The Rogue Prince of Persia, the rumored new 2D action platformer from Evil Empire, known for supporting the development of Dead Cells. Will be available on Steam in early access from May 14th. It will be published on other, unspecified platforms in the future. Just below you can also see the trailer
The plot follows the Prince, specifically the son of King Peroz, and is set in Ctesiphon, the capital of a kingdom that has fallen under the control of the Huns, who have shamanic powers. To save the population, our hero must use his courage and skills to travel back in time and avoid death.
It is in fact a roguelitea genre with which Evil Empire is expert, and time travel is a great way to justify our character's constant deaths and resurrections.
The Rogue Prince of Persia gameplay details
The Rogue Prince of Persia is described as a “sunny and positive platformer” with a strong narrative component which revolves around its roguelite mechanics. We can expect a fast gaming system and a 60 FPS frame rate.
We'll have to explore Ctesiphon, procedurally created Persian city. We'll have to perform acrobatic skills, fighting from near and far as we twirl on poles and face mythological creatures, magic and the Huns. We will be able to find various objects that give permanent upgrades and upgrade ourselves through a blacksmith at the Oasis.
The Rogue Prince of Persia is just one of the latest Ubisoft titles designed to bring the saga back into vogue. We recommend you also take a look at Prince of Persia The Lost Crown.
