My first thoughts are from gratitude. To the thousands of electors of Mazatlan, Concord, rosary beads and Escuinapawho trusted me favoring me with your vote. At and brigadiers, who with their encouragement injected me with one more reason to go out and conquer wills. At hundreds of general and box representativesthe candidates We are an extension of their efforts on Election Day. To the member parties of the Strength and Heart Coalition for Mexico, of the PRI, the PAN, the PRD and the PASwho generously opened the doors to me as a citizen to present me as candidate to Federal Deputy, despite not being a member of any political party. And, to the team, of which I am just one more link. Thank you for so much and for everything.
Without democrats, there is no democracy viable or possible. I missed. The result does not favor me. This is what marks it Preliminary Election Results Program (PREP) of the National Electoral Institute (INE)this is stated in the minutes in my possession and, this is how I compared it in the District council on June 6, where the case of 171 minutes for the count of 497 packages was specifically reviewed. I recognize the triumph of who today will be the Federal Representative for District 01, Graciela Domínguez Nava. Congratulations.
Accepting the result is one thing, different from going unnoticed irregularities of one state election. It is important to highlight this, it gives you a clearer idea of the regression experienced in electoral terms over the territory. Even more so, when the entire public debate on alternation in the 1990s focused on building fair and equitable elections. Today all that is over.
However, the irregularities They do not give rise to talking about electoral fraud, at least for me. That’s why I accept the result. Not doing so brings me closer to the classic “I have other data”. With this, we would become too similar to what we fought. That would represent a moral defeat. And that’s not the case, we are different.
From this space I make a double call.
To the opposition parties. Behave like the opposition! Its main responsibility towards the government is to present itself as an alternative. Although you do not have enough votes to dominate in the Cabildo, in the State Congress, in the Congress of the Union or in the Senate, they do have a voice. Win the debates, even if you lose the votes!
To the general public. Don’t give up! Don’t surrender! The battle for freedom has always been against the current. Although it is true that we are a minority, lies as a form of government hurt us. Putting words at the service of a political cause and returning the value of facts in times of populism keeps hope alive. It’s a matter of time.
A process of hegemony is underway in Mexico, not only electoral but cultural. A way of voting, a way of thinking. A way of behaving. A way of living together. Let’s not be naive, that’s what has us here, the citizens voted with full awareness of their choice. “Lopezobradorism” goes beyond party acronyms. It is a way of identifying in the Mexican present. What do we offer as an alternative? In short, it is time to break down the identity of the counterparty; all those who do not believe in what those who voted for the current elected government believe.
It hurts, but we would be wrong to “distribute blame.” For millions of Mexicans, the mismanagement of the López Obrador government during the pandemic, the thousands of femicides recorded in the year, the increase in insecurity in the streets, the indifference to the tragedy of searching mothers, the fear due to lack of medicines, the resignation in the face of abandoning schools, no is priority. How big is the resentment towards “that past”, that everything is forgiven to this government? It is our turn to respond.
There will be time to delve into the effectiveness of the delivery of federal programs, the polarization of society and/or the wear and tear of the old party system. Even about the failure due to the impossibility of convincing millions of Mexicans that this election involved them, and not only power groups and their parties.
Resignation is part of a cultural defeat that must be fought. It’s not my option. I opt for resistance. The transcendent thing will be to define a horizon, first, and a route to conquer it, later. This is not the time to abandon “the street,” nor the message, much less the contrast. Let’s win the debate, even if we lose the vote. Let’s recover the truth as part of a political cause. From there, let’s discuss the vehicle to achieve it. Let us begin.
So be it.
