Medellín and Deportivo Cali faced each other this Monday at the Atanasio Girardot stadium, in a match with controversial refereeing work by central Luis Gabriel Matorel, from Bolívar.
DIM won 1-0, with a score by Brayan León Muñiz in the 14th minute, but In the previous play, there was an elbow from Leyser Chaverra to an opponent when Cali was advancing towards Éder Chaux's goal.
Matorel did not sanction the infraction and Chaux's serve resulted in the counterattack with which Medellín achieved the lead, which was definitive.
🗣️ Opinion: Although the VAR (Kéiner Jiménez) cannot go back to that moment to annul the goal, it can do so to warn of disciplinary punishments, in this case a possible red card from Leyser Chaverra for rough and serious play #LigaBetPlay https://t.co/UWKxfskVTx

The controversial expulsion of Brayan León Muñiz
The second controversial play was the expulsion of León Muñiz, at 41 of the first stage: the visitor's attacker was sent off for a double warning, for an alleged slap on defender Francisco Meza.
The television images do not make it clear if León Muñiz touched Meza, but the decision was final. It is worth remembering that The VAR cannot intervene when the disciplinary measure is taken for a double warning, unless it considers that the play is a direct red card.
What the VAR did intervene in was in a play in which the center back Matorel awarded a penalty in favor of Deportivo Cali for an alleged infraction by Leyser Chaverra against Juan José Córdoba.
Those in charge of video refereeing, Keiner Jiménez and Liz Mair Suárez, called on the judge to review the action and he backed down, amid protests from the visiting players.
Ufffff, very gray, difficult, complicated play. Although the DIM defender tries to remove his leg, when Cali's #17 goes to pass he bumps his knee against that of the rival who wants to or not is obstructing him. For me the VAR should not have called. I respect opinions #LigaBetPlay pic.twitter.com/o0uKuzWpVa
