Red Bull's Hypercar promises to be a real feat. We now also know that he is coming very soon.
As a Formula 1 team, it is and remains attractive to make road cars. McLaren once started with the 'F1' (crazy name for a non-F1 car, but that's besides the point), for example. At Ferrari it was never a secret that Enzo sold road cars to finance the racing activities.
At Red Bull they were also working on a 'road car' for a long time. At the time, this was still in collaboration with Aston Martin, then a partner of the team from Milton-Keynes. But now it appears that Red Bull is actually coming up with its own car.
Public secret
Now that was already somewhat of an open secret. Apparently it was one of the stopgap measures to keep master designer Adrian Newey in. Adrian would also like to design super sports cars, in addition to F1 cars, and this way they can combine it. The arrival of the car has been confirmed by team boss Christian Horner in an interview with Sky Sports.
The name of the car is also known: the Red Bull RB17. For the loyal reader and Formula 1 connoisseur (such as @edge) will immediately ring a bell. There has never been a Formula 1 car with that name. There was an RB16 (2020) and an RB16B (2021). The RB18 was released in 2022 and last year Max Verstappen shattered all records in the RB19. So the RB17 is still missing.
Sports car Red Bull
The date that the car will be introduced is also known: 2024. Now that is a fairly broad concept, that date: it could be now or in 11 months.
The Red Bull RB17 will compete with the Aston Martin Valkyrie, which was also designed by Newey. In terms of power and weight it will be close to Formula 1 cars. For example, there is talk of a maximum power of 1,250 hp and a capacity of 900 kg.
For reference, an F1 car is a little lighter, but also has a little less power. Of course, you shouldn't expect a bargain: the target price is around five million. Hopefully it will be delivered personally by Verstappen or Pérez.
