The rector of the Complutense and Begoña Gómez, first to appear in the Assembly’s investigation commission

The wife of the President of the Government, Begoña Gómez, the rector of the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), Joaquín Goyache, and the auditor of the UCM, María Elvira Gutiérrez-Vierna, will be the first three appearances of the investigation commission to clarify in the Assembly if there was favorable treatment towards Pedro Sánchez’s wife at this public university.

This was reported to Europa Press by sources from the Popular Parliamentary Group, explaining that this is the list they have requested at the committee table that determined this Monday who will be called on November 13 and where they have an absolute majority.

In this way, Gutiérrez-Vierna has solved the only unknown that remained since weeks ago the ‘popular’ announced that they would call both Gómez and Goyache. As published by El Mundo in July, the UCM Intervention prepared a report on the award to one of the technological providers of Begoña Gómez’s chair – Making Science – pointing out that the services were “irregularly arranged” to grant her a request for 24,200 euros, implying that the order was “verbal.”

The PSOE defends that the presence of Gómez “contributes nothing”

Minutes before the list was known, the PP spokesperson in the Assembly, Carlos Díaz-Pache, was asked if he believed that at a time of political unity due to the crisis caused by DANA in the Valencian Community and Castilla-La Mancha the call de Gómez could dynamit the unanimity of the parties.

“I believe that the institutions continue to function. There is a national emergency, but this assembly continues to do its work, it continues to debate the laws, it continues to do the work to approve the budgets of the Community of Madrid and, of course, the 20 commissions that are in this assembly continue to function. Díaz-Pache has transferred.

In line with this, he believes that there is “no reason to postpone any appearance” and that the “climate of collaboration between parties” was already in force over the weekend without the call to the president’s wife “having been an impediment.”

The leader of the PSOE-M, Juan Lobato, does not share this vision, who considers that “it does not contribute anything to Madrid politics”, but rather causes a “climate of confrontation and tension.” “It seems to me that people are not stupid and that people smell the obscenity of using institutions to engage in cheap politics, right? And that is what in this case I think the Popular Party is doing,” he indicated below.

The commission has also been disdained by the spokesperson for Más Madrid in the Chamber, Manuela Bergerot, whom she has once again branded as a ‘popular’ “media circus”. In his intervention, prior to that of Díaz-Pache, he doubted the attitude that the PP would take in the face of “a case of humanitarian emergency” in Valencia.

Finally, Vox, which has been denying for weeks that the PP was going to call Begoña Gómez, has assured this morning that if neither the president of the Government nor his wife were on the list of the first commission “there will not be any doubt about the complicity of the Popular Party with the 1st of the plot.” He has again criticized the treatment of his formation in this commission, which he has described as an attempt by the PP to “silence and hide” Santiago Abascal’s party.
