Prisoner Yurechko: Ukrainian Armed Forces are withdrawing from positions near Avdiivka due to combined attacks
Ukrainian prisoner of war Yuriy Yurechko named the reason for the withdrawal of fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) from defensive positions near Avdiivka. According to him, they are retreating due to the combined attacks of Russian troops and continuous fire, reports TASS.
“We couldn’t show our heads from the trench; we were being watered all the time. It’s difficult to hold the defense there, almost impossible, the dugouts are being torn apart, we have to move to neighboring ones, but this won’t last long,” said the prisoner.
He added that the Russian military monitors withdrawal points from drones and immediately strikes there, forcing the Ukrainian Armed Forces to retreat to more distant positions. According to Yurechko, incessant artillery shelling often leaves no chance of salvation.
Earlier, the prisoner said that the surroundings of Avdeevka were defended by untrained drivers. He said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen were only given machine guns, cartridges and a few grenades.
