The Deputy Minister of Citizen Rights, Beatriz González Prietoannounced this Wednesday that the Government of the Principality plans to include an item in the 2025 budget project to help municipalities implement the 2030 Agenda.
González Prieto has made these statements in Candas at the inauguration of a workshop to contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda on the local map of the Principality developed by the General Directorate of Agenda 2030 in collaboration with the Concepción Arenal Chair of the University of Oviedo/Uviéu who directs María Rosario Alonso. She did it accompanied by the mayor of Carreño, Ángel Garcíaand the director of Agenda 2030, Juan Pontewhich has influenced the prominence of local entities. “You are the axis of transformation of public policies,” he told the municipal representatives. “We have to get used to working together, because unity and sustainability are strength,” he added.
The deputy councilor explained that the measure has two specific purposes: on the one hand, to provide permanent advice to City Councils that require training to apply the sustainable development objectives (SDG) and, on the other, to collaborate financially with local entities in projects that comply the requirements established by the United Nations to achieve these goals.
In this sense, he has highlighted the intention of the Ministry of Territorial Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and Citizen Rights to make available to councils the tools and qualified personnel necessary for the location and development of the SDGs through action plans. concrete measures that allow them to access European funds.
This is a pilot experience to outline a diagnosis and an action plan for a functional area of Asturias that helps localize the SDGs and to which the councils of Gozón, Carreño, Corvera and Llanera have been the first to join.
