Western countries that seek ways to satisfy their interests in the conflict in Ukraine are exacerbating it and causing additional suffering to the population of the whole world. This was announced on Friday, September 16, by Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day.
According to him, the NATO countries that are engaged in the production of weapons are interested in bringing world politics to an armed conflict.
“And once they have made this mistake, instead of correcting it, they choose to make it worse, not caring about the suffering they cause to humanity or the damage they do to the stability of nations and the well-being of societies,” Obrador said.
The Mexican leader also pointed out that the sanctions against Russia and the supply of weapons to Kyiv led to an escalation of the conflict in the region.
He also stressed that the UN is inactive and is not going to build a peaceful dialogue between Moscow and Kyiv.
Earlier that day, during a visit to Washington, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa criticized Washington’s anti-Russian moves that could harm the African continent.
On September 9, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the alliance observes “some successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) near Kherson and Kharkov”, but calls not to be mistaken and prepare for a long war.
He also pointed out the need to increase the supply of weapons to Ukraine, even to the detriment of its defense capabilities, since for NATO the Ukrainian conflict is an element of ensuring its own security.
On the same day, the Secretary General said that Ukraine would cease to exist if it refused to fight.
Moscow has repeatedly condemned Western aggression and the supply of weapons to Ukraine, saying it is ready for dialogue with the West, which, in turn, only exacerbates the conflict by supporting Ukraine.
So, on September 8, the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, said that the risk of a direct clash between Russia and NATO is increasing due to an indirect confrontation between NATO and Russia in Ukraine. He also noted the leading role of the bloc in the actions of the Kyiv regime and recalled the number of foreign instructors in Ukraine.
On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launch of a special operation to protect the civilian population of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR). It was preceded by an aggravation of the situation in the region, an appeal by the leadership of the DPR and LPR to the Russian Federation with a request for help, and the subsequent recognition by Russia of the independence of the Donbass republics.
