The PP of Abarán called for the resignation of the PSOE Councilor for Education, Leticia Yelo, for calling the PP councilor, David Pérez, an “idiot”, in the ordinary plenary session held last Tuesday night.
The events occurred in the question and answer section when popular councilor David Pérez stated that “you are the most expensive government team in democracy.” Later he accused five opposition councilors in the previous legislature for “having taken the salary of the mayor of the PP, José Miguel Manzanares”, and immediately asked the socialist government team if they are “going to resign for bringing a complete vacuum of content , with the exception of a budget modification.
At that time, the councilor of the PSOE, Isabel Pérez, replied with the phrase “if you want, we’ll applaud you”, and then her partner Leticia Yelo called David Pérez an “idiot”, according to what he said.
Abarán’s PP released a statement on Tuesday in which it states that “there are lines that no public office should ever cross, and in a debate in a plenary room there can be more or less heated discussions, but you can never reach an insult between members of the same corporation.
For the PP, “it is paradoxical that it was the councilor who exercises the powers of Education who showed precisely that evident lack of respect.” According to the PP, this same councilor also insulted Antonio Pagán.
The mayor of Abarán, Jesús Gómez, came to the fore and limited himself to saying “that insults do not fit in the plenary session, and if there has been any insult, to withdraw it.” For this reason, the PP argues that “if you really think that, we ask you to prove it with facts and demand the resignation, or at least, the public rectification of your councilor.”
The PP of Abarán recalled that “events like the one last night are unfortunately being repeated with some frequency and always with the same protagonists”, and cited as examples the socialist mayor of La Unión and another socialist councilor in the Alhama de Murcia City Council, who He made macho comments towards the popular spokesperson.
However, the mayor of Abarán, Jesús Gómez, stated that the councilor confirmed that “she did not insult anyone and those words did not come out of her mouth.”
This newspaper contacted the Councilor for Education, Leticia Yelo Pérez, and received no response.
