The vice president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Vicente Barrera (VOX), has distanced himself this Tuesday from the “Community Pride” campaign that the Valencian Government itself has launched to “make visible and celebrate diversity and promote a society in the Valencian Community inclusive and respectful”, as presented by the second vice president and counselor of Social Services, Susana Camarero, of the PP. Barrera has assured that the popular people have not counted on them for the initiative and that they do not join it. “We are not willing to buy the ideological framework that the left wants to impose on us,” he said.
Just a few minutes later, the spokesperson for the Valencian Government, Ruth Merino, explained that her partner's words are “a personal opinion”, that the Generalitat will maintain the campaign and that there is no gap in the regional Executive but rather discrepancies between the parties. That composes. Merino has even pointed out that the rest of the Consell knew of the public criticism that Barrera was going to make of the campaign and that although in the Valencian Government “shared decisions are made”, opposition to it “enters into the will of the party.” to which it belongs”, in reference to Vox. In this way she has hinted that despite the support her partners have given in the Consell, the far right has reported that she was going to publicly criticize herself. “There is nothing further from a breakup,” said the Consell spokesperson.
Shortly after, the president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, defended the campaign and indicated that although he respects Barrera's “personal opinion,” that is his point of view. “I respect it but it is not the position of the Government of the Generalitat nor of the management of the Generalitat nor of what the Generalitat of Valencia is going to do. Just as it is, just as it sounds,” he concluded. For Mazón, “loyalty is in telling us the truth, loyalty is in recognizing that we are different parties and loyalty is in expressing if you have any disagreement and then joining what the majority does.”
In his criticism of the campaign, Vicente Barrera has argued that “in this Community there is no problem of discrimination, inclusion or tolerance” and he is not willing to “buy the ideology that the left wants to impose on us.” “We do not like it when specific groups are singled out, just as we would not like the opposite to be done. We believe in individual freedom, we believe that each person must choose their path and their life, but we do not like collectivization, appropriating a collective,” he added.
The campaign was announced by Mazón himself during the International Tourism Fair, Fitur, where he pointed out the Consell's commitment to LGTBIQ+ tourism in a Valencian Community “open to the world.” Vox didn't say anything then. Last weekend, during the celebration of the Benidorm Fest, the brand was announced “as a unifying value for all the campaigns that will be carried out during this term in terms of diversity, with the aim of promoting inclusion and recognition of LGTBIQ+ people in the Valencian Community.”

The vice president and Minister of Culture has been asked, in his appearance this Tuesday, about the winning song of the Benidorm Fest that will represent Spain in Eurovision after his party partner and president of the Cortes, Llanos Masso, criticized it. “The song 'Zorra' is going to represent Spain in Eurovision. Program followed by thousands of children and young people. Can someone answer my question? When a kid calls a classmate a bitch, are they going to raise his grade a point or give him a prize at the end of the year? Because I guess we don't even talk about reprimanding him, right? “He wrote in a message on the social network X (formerly Twitter). Barrera did not want to assess the issue today: “I am not going to assess the suitability or not of an artistic creation, which we always respect. It was a jury that decided. I wish that Spain always wins. I wish you all the luck in the world and I hope I can congratulate you for winning Eurovision,” he added.
The one who did not want to express himself was the Minister of Agriculture, José Luis Aguirre, also from Vox, who has assured that he did not hear her.
