A team of researchers has managed to decipher an ancient Babylonian tablet, known as Imago Mundiwhich could be the oldest map in the world.
Created about 3,000 years ago, the tablet features a circular map accompanied by inscriptions in cuneiform writing, one of the earliest forms of writing known to mankind.
What surprises experts is the vision of the world that this map reflects.revealing not only geographical locations, but also deities, mythical creatures and the Babylonians’ concept of the universe.
