He was one of the most renowned psychics in history. The American Edgar Cayce, known as the sleeping prophet, rose to fame for predicting events as relevant as the First and Second World Wars, the creation of the State of Israel or the independence of India. All this, being born in 1877 and dying only in 1945.
Great past and future predictions
Not content with pinpointing events that occurred during his lifetime or a few years after his death, Cayce is credited with -among 25,000 omens- visions as current as the 2008 financial crisis, the invasion of Ukraine and the rise in sea levels, which already affects a huge number of countries, especially in Southeast Asia and Oceania.
Among his most notable visions that have not yet been fulfilled is the disappearance of the city of New York. According to the prophet in one of his books, he had a vision in which he was on a trip and the vehicle stopped in a completely destroyed city. When asked where he was, he said New York City. Some of his most confident followers believe it could be the September 11 attack.
The American Nostradamus
Edgar Cayce belongs to the select group of ‘Nostradamus’ who are still sweeping among believers in futurology and divination. They all drink directly from the tradition established by the famous French apothecary, Michel Nostradame, known for his book Les Prophéties, a collection of 942 poetic quatrains that supposedly predict future events.
Cayce, for his part, was one of the most famous fortune tellers in the United States. He entered a state of hypnotic trance during his so-called “readings” and answered the questions of those who visited him. Many people came to him to seek help for their illnesses and ailments. The ARE (Association for Research and Enlightenment) currently preserves all the readings, about 14,000, of which 8,500 are dedicated to health topics.
