A tour assigned at random. Bizarre Love Triangle He celebrates his twenty-year career with some unique concerts in which he performs two albums in their entirety at each gig. His fans do not know what they will hear every night, until the tarot cards, the work of the artist Wences Lamasthey decide which ones will sound.
“In our speech the idea of chaos and the mystical has always been present. A message that fit with the work of Wences, a similar artist who understands and shares our alibi. He projected our discography in a wonderful tarot that guides the concerts and makes the public even more involved,” he explains. Isa Cea.
Sometimes, the artist offers attendees a tarot reading, whose cards are inspired by the six albums and the imagination of the band from A Coruña, as happened in Madrid. Always, a mysterious figure – who responds by the name of A MouraEnte del Vacío—interacts with the audience to determine which album will be performed live.
Chance provides an unrepeatable concert, which has led many fans not to miss any of the three events in Madrid, Galicia and Andalusia, the only communities where all of his work will be performed. More than sixty songs, some unreleased live – as far as memory can go – and others dusted from oblivion: a gift for his followers.
“Although each one has their fetishes, everyone will have the opportunity to listen to more difficult and dark cuts,” adds the singer and bassist of the band, whose works have been awarded and praised by independent critics. “We are even polishing live Mystical Victorythe first album we produced that wasn’t completely finished.”
The guitarist and singer Rodrigo Caamano He is in charge of finishing off their songs on stage, where he also takes care of the keyboard after the departure of Zippo. Continue, forceful on the drums, Rafael Mallowho joined the group before the recording of the second album, Holy Yearwhose only song that survived live was From monarchy to cryptocracy.
“Zippo has been a very important member of the band, we love him a lot and we miss him. It was a hard moment, although we have worked on the sound to adapt it to the trio format, so the concerts are different, very cool and with a more punk point. There are reformed ideas, but don’t take them,” comments the bassist of Triángulo de Amor Bizarro.
After spending three nights in Madrid, the gigs are pending this Friday the 22nd in Toledo and this Saturday the 23rd in Seville. Then they will play in Oviedo, Zaragoza, Barcelona, Valencia and A Coruña (consult dates and times). And, to top it off, they have a surprise in store for December 28, the details of which Isa Cea reveals at the end of the interview.
They play two six-pack albums, which would add up to more than sixty songs.
The draw was the best we could do, because we were not going to make the right choice. We have not rehearsed the albums in order, but rather we have refreshed some individual songs that we had forgotten more about. If we went through each album, one by one, we would have abandoned the project [risas].
We couldn’t face something so specific: the question was to find the energy of each album, tie ourselves to the couple of songs that were clearest to us and recover some that were lost. I listened to each one a couple of times to remember them and go back to that moment. In the end, they are songs that are there: although we played them ten or fifteen years ago, they are still in your head. More in-depth research should be done on musical memory…
Why leave everything to chance?
Because in music there is a lot of chance and change. In fact, we are taking some songs to another terrain and completing them live. Different and new things are coming out of all this mess, everything keeps moving and we are moving forward.
Which albums are coming out more and which ones less?
For now, the one that has come out the most is the black one (oɹɹɐzıqɹoɯɐǝpolnƃuɐıɹʇ) and the one who least, Thirst. When a record comes out rarely, it scares you, because you are not rehearsing it, you have it very lost and when suddenly you have to play it, you think: my goodness!
And which one did you want to play the most?
There are different opinions in the band. [risas]. The first one, for example, is cool. It has a couple of songs that have been a constant throughout all these years, but many others force you to place yourself at the group’s starting point. It’s cool to recover that energy and transform it. For us, it’s like an experiment.
Rodrigo is really liking it Mystical Victory and, in fact, some songs sound better than ever. Finally we can take them to another level, because then maybe we didn’t have the experience to do it and because now we have Carlos Hernández—our friend and producer—as a live sound engineer.
The fans are unleashed on this tour.
We spread the intensity of our music and our ideas, as well as the strength of our songs, to an audience that overflows with passion and maintains a true connection with us. We all feel that we are in the place where we want to be. And we’re absolutely amazing, feeling fulfilled at a party, something that’s not so easy, because many times you don’t hear what you want or be with the people you want.
Furthermore, during the concerts many people have returned to a moment in their lives, ten or twenty years ago, in which they felt good and in which they vibrated, something that is very special for us. We will never forget it and I think it has been one of the coolest sensations we have experienced as a band.
And they, dancing pogo without stopping.
At our concerts they usually dance pogo at specific moments. What is happening now is that the group is hyperstimulated by the environment and so sensitive that it enters the energy and lets itself go.
By the way, what will be the surprise on December 28?
The concert that will close the tour is going to be in our house and with our people, specifically in the A Pousada de Boiro room. Its owner, Suso Santamaría, is part of our support network along with people like Wences Lamas, with whom we met at the beginning of our career at the Electronic Workshop in A Coruña, where he did his performances and his moves. Hopefully you can be there to read the tarot cards.
