Bruce McArthur did not murder his ninth victim at the end of 2017 because the Police had already investigated him and knocked on her door moments after he put a bag over her head.
McArthur was a gardener known for his excellent work in Toronto, Canada. Apparently, nothing could make him suspicious of a person who had such scope. However, more than once he had been interviewed by the authorities for allegations of attacks on men from the LGBTIQ+ community in their country.
McArthur, murderer of the LGBTIQ+ community
Apparently, the 67-year-old man had a clear ‘modus operandi’ when choosing his victims.
I met them through a gay dating app. There she struck up a conversation with each of them and then summoned them to a face-to-face meeting. When she had them face to face it was time to kill them.
McArthur accepted eight murders, among whom were Majeed Kayhan, 58; Soroush Mahmudi, 50; Skandaraj Navaratnam, 40; Andrew Kinsman, 49; Dean Lisowick, 47; Abdulbasir Faizi, 42, and Kirushnakumar Kanagaratnam, 37. All were part of the LGBTIQ+ community, and more than half were also members of migrant communities.
And although those are the official names that could be traced back to McArthur, the police estimate that there may be many more people on the murder list.

But today should not be about him. It should be about the victims and their families. pic.twitter.com/tI2BZdei1w

McArthur, prime suspect
According to reports from the authorities, which were revealed during the investigation, McArthur had already been pointed out by other people as a violent person.
In 2003, the man was found guilty of assault for hitting his ex-partner on the head.
Later, in 2013, he was interviewed by police inquiries that were being carried out into the disappearance of three of his victims, but he was not charged with anything.
In addition to this, in 2016, when some of the murders had already been committed, he was again interviewed by the Police because a man denounced him for trying to strangle him inside a van. At the time of the events, not enough evidence was found and McArthur had no major repercussions.
The reality is that the clues that led him to be the main suspect did not even come from something he did, but from an agenda of Andrew Kinsman, one of his victims, which had the name “Bruce” written on the date of his disappearance. .
Thanks to some security cameras, it was established that Kinsman got into a red 2004 Dodge Caravan. When the name “Bruce” was run through a system along with the model of the car, only four people came out in search, which which greatly reduced the investigation.

The vehicle managed to be tracked and confirmed the presence of Kinsman before he was killed, as it had traces of the man’s blood and semen.
Due to this, the Police closely followed the one who was already the main suspect in the investigation at that time, waiting for McArthur to act again and that was the case.
A few months after his last murder, McArthur met a man who identified himself in court as ‘John’, with whom he allegedly arranged a clandestine sexual encounter.
When ‘John’ and McArthur went to the murderer’s house, the man offered ‘John’ a new sexual practice, so he handcuffed him to the bed and proceeded to put a bag -without holes to breathe- in his head.
Minutes later, authorities knocked on his door and likely saved ‘John’ from being the next fatality.

The chilling discoveries
During McArthur’s trial, which took place in January 2019, evidence of his murders was submitted as evidence. The prosecutor warned the court that the images were so strong that they could affect the “mental health” of those who were in the room.
The images that were taken from the killer’s computer – where there were folders with the names of each of his victims – showed his dates posing nude and in very specific ways after being killed.
In addition, he shaved the vast majority of them and then stored their hair in Ziploc bags that he kept hidden in a place where he also kept his gardening tools.

However, one of the things that most surprised people about this murderer was learning that after dismembering his victims he left some of his remains in pots in the houses where he worked as a gardener. What he couldn’t leave there, he apparently threw over a ravine.
Bruce McArthur was sentenced in 2019 to life in prison after the revelations of his cruel actions. However, the judge specified that he has the possibility of requesting parole when he completes 25 years behind bars.
