The most expensive Counter-Strike: Global Offensive skin ever, StatTrak Factory New AK-47 in Blue Gem Pattern 661, has just been released sold for a crazy amountwhich is not known exactly but is believed to be worth more than one million dollars.
This is the immaculate version of the same skin that in 2022 it was sold for a whopping $400,000: it is said to have been discovered in a weapons chest last January, but some are convinced it has until now been jealously preserved by a collector.
“The most expensive skin in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive history sold publicly this morning,” journalist Jake Lucky wrote on Twitter. “This is a StatTrak Factory New AK-47 Blue Gem pattern 661, sold for over a million dollars.”
As you can see in the video below, the skin adds a series of extra details to the AK-47 assault rifle, with a sort of camo pattern with a blue base and flamed appendages.
An insanely exaggerated market
According to a study, one of the main reasons why we play video games is to buy skins: objects that over the years have ended up at the center of a market in sensational expansion.
In fact, we are talking about a sector from worth over 50 billion dollarswhich has also grown thanks to the increase in popularity of eSports, where prices are obviously determined by the rarity of the skins.
Having said this, it is clear and evident that at certain levels collecting precious skins like the one we have just talked about is an activity reserved exclusively for really, really, really wealthy people.
