It’s been a while since August stopped being a dry month in terms of video game releases. For a few years now, the summer month par excellence has begun to have more and more weight in the editors’ calendars. A new example of this are the titles that will go on sale in the coming weeks. Among them, two great adventures stand out Black Myth: Wukong and Star Wars Outlawsbut they are by no means the only titles of interest of the month.
Below, we review some of the notable releases for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch that will arrive throughout this August.
August 2
World of Goo 2
Platforms: PC and Nintendo Switch
One of the big surprises of the last edition of The Game Awards was this sequel to one of the titles that started the indie gaming boom in 2008. This sequel will once again challenge players to use liquid creatures full of life to Build bridges, grow towers, terraform terrain and power flying machines. Although as already happened in the original title, there will surely be something more than what meets the eye.

Eden Genesis

Eden Genesis is the new action platform game from Aeternum Game Studios, the creators of Aeterna Noctis. The Talavera de la Reina development studio, in Toledo, recovers many of its elements from its adventure metroidvaniabut it completely changes the setting to transport players to a world of cyberpunk aesthetics with the aim of helping Leah, a girl who must overcome a serious illness caused by her cybernetic implants.

Creatures of Ava
Platforms: PC and Xbox Series
The Valencian development studios Inverge (Effie) and Chibig (Summer in Mara) are behind this adventure game starring Vic, an explorer who must save the creatures of a fantasy kingdom from an infection that has made them very aggressive. The game stands out for its colorful environments that reproduce various ecosystems.

Steam World Heist 2
Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch
The acclaimed tactical action game series Steam World Heist returns with a sequel set on the high seas. The player must captain a crew of robots while exploring the world with his ship and participating in naval combat. Although its casual aesthetic may be misleading, this franchise developed by the Swedes Thunderful will delight fans of tactical strategy.

The Crush House

The British studio Nerial, responsible for the well-known franchise Reignsis behind this original game based on a reality show fictional set in 1999. In the role of the show’s producer, the player must cast, record and produce each edition. The game promises love affairs between the contestants and all kinds of salsa, but it also hides a very intriguing dark side.

Black Myth: Wukong

When it was announced in 2020 with a video demonstration that showed a specular technical finish, many doubted the veracity of those images. A few years later, the time is approaching when we will be able to see it for ourselves with the launch of this adventure based on the classic 16th century Chinese novel Journey to the West. This is the debut of the Chinese studio Game Science and it seems that it will surely delight fans of action games with large and monstrous rivals.

After the great success of helldivers 2this team-based first-person action game is Sony’s new bet in the field of games as a service. Set in a science-fiction universe that is irremediably reminiscent of Guardians of the Galaxy, this hero shooter developed by the Americans Firewalk Studios pits two teams of five players against each other. Visions of Mana

From the hand of Square Enix this August it will hit stores Visions of Manaa Japanese action role-playing game set in a semi-open world with an anime aesthetic. This is the first installment of this classic franchise in more than fifteen years. On this occasion, the game will tell the story of Val, a boy who has just been named custodian of souls and therefore must accompany Hina, his childhood friend, to the Mana Tree.

Star Wars Outlaws

There is anticipation to see how Ubisoft will apply its open-world gaming template to this ambitious adventure set in the quintessential galactic saga. Star Wars Outlaws has been developed by Massive Entertainment, the team responsible for The Divisionand will place its story between two of the classic episodes of the original trilogy, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. One of the great assets of the title is, precisely, mixing Ubisoft’s experience in the open world genre with all the imagination of the universe created by George Lucas.
