The Ministry of Economy announced the launch of 6 new and diverse innovative initiatives during its participation in the activities of the UAE Innovation Month 2023, with the aim of supporting national efforts in establishing a culture of innovation among all segments of society, and motivating them to establish new innovative projects in the priority sectors of the state, in line with the objectives of the national strategy. For innovation and advanced innovation, and in accordance with the country’s vision towards transforming into a knowledge-based and competitive economy.
On this occasion, His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, said: “Thanks to the vision and directives of the wise leadership, the UAE has an advanced innovative and creative environment based on integrated policies, institutions and pioneering digital infrastructure, based on the country’s vision and focus on innovation as one of the main pillars for achieving sustainable development and the transition towards the sectors of the new economy.
His Excellency added that the innovative initiatives launched by the Ministry during the Innovation Month contribute to strengthening the government innovation system in the country, support the empowerment of national capabilities in the areas of innovation and creativity, encourage individuals and institutions for creative and innovative thinking, and increase entrepreneurial projects, in a way that establishes the UAE’s position as a regional and global destination for development. On knowledge and innovation, building human capacities and attracting talent, in line with the goals of the next fifty years.
The innovative initiatives of the Ministry of Economy during the month of innovation “UAE Innovates 2023” include:
“The Minister of Economy Award for Innovation” to enhance awareness of the importance of innovation and competitiveness among the employees and customers of the ministry, as the award witnesses wide participation and innovative solutions that serve the sectors and areas of the ministry’s work, in addition to proposing innovative projects that are applicable. The award also contributes to supporting the development of electronic and smart services provided by the Ministry to the public, stimulating innovation in the work environment and benefiting from and developing the talents that the Ministry embraces. The Ministry revealed that a new category has been added to the award, which is the “Innovative Leader” category.
The second initiative is a “strategic retreat for innovative transformational projects”. The Ministry’s Strategy and Future Department launches a strategic retreat aimed at attracting ideas for new transformational projects for the International Day of the Future, which contributes to increasing innovative projects in the country’s priority areas, consolidating the culture of innovation, and transferring skills and knowledge. community innovation.
The third initiative is a “digital platform for startups and business incubators in the country” that includes many sectors, including artificial intelligence and advanced technology, with the aim of facilitating access for investors and businessmen to an integrated database that helps them identify investment opportunities in startups.
The fourth initiative is the Ministry’s participation in the sixth edition of the “UAE Hackathon 2023” in cooperation with the Communications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority. The hackathon witnesses the participation of school and university students, entrepreneurs and researchers. digital and technological. The Ministry receives applications for participation in the “UAE Hackathon 2023”, coinciding with the beginning of the 2023 Innovation Month.
The fifth initiative is to expand the network of partnerships for the “NEXT GEN FDI” initiative by developing new partnerships with targeted international companies in areas related to innovation, technology and the new economy.
The sixth initiative is a dialogue session held by the Ministry with the owners of innovative projects to support them and overcome the obstacles and challenges that stand in front of them, share their pioneering success stories, and benefit from their experiences and expertise in the fields of entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity, and transfer them to the Ministry’s employees, in conjunction with the launch of the sabbatical leave initiative for self-employment for federal government employees. Citizens of the country, in a way that enhances the empowerment of employees to establish their innovative projects.
In addition, the Ministry organizes a series of visits for its employees to the Museum of the Future, to motivate them to innovate and create, encourage them to present new innovative ideas that serve the work environment within the Ministry, and develop their sense of innovation and creativity, in addition to providing financial rewards to innovative employees.
