His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, chaired the meeting of the Ministerial Council for Development, which was held yesterday at Expo 2020 Dubai, during which a number of government policies and legislation aimed at supporting the government work system were discussed.
The meeting’s agenda included discussing a number of policies related to child protection in educational institutions in the country, with the aim of ensuring the safety of children, respecting their dignity, promoting their well-being, providing a healthy and safe educational environment for each child without discrimination, giving priority to the child and his interest at all times, and those related to strengthening the nursing profession And midwifery, with the aim of providing a national framework to enhance the two professions, unify the efforts of their cadres, support the qualification of national leadership models in the two fields, support the state’s readiness in case of crises, emergencies and health disasters, and improve the attractiveness of attracting cadres to these professions.
The council discussed a number of legislations to regulate the labor market, in terms of protecting workers’ rights against unemployment, regulating work injuries and occupational diseases in the private sector, the mechanism for reporting and investigation, and the mechanism for disbursing compensation for them.
The council also discussed legislation related to the protection of new plant varieties, aimed at granting specific rights to plant breeders and their protection, improving agricultural productivity and the quality of plant varieties, diversifying plant products offered to consumers, and encouraging the private sector to invest in plant varieties, and those related to biosafety from genetically modified organisms. And their products, with the aim of strengthening the system of biosecurity and environmental safety in the country, regulating the import, transit and circulation of these organisms, and the conditions and controls for their export or re-export.
On the other hand, the council reviewed a number of reports, including the report on the results of managing outdoor advertising, and the uses of federal roads. The Board also reviewed the work report of the Securities and Commodities Authority Board of Directors, the Board of Directors of the Emirates School Education Corporation, the Board of Trustees of the Higher Colleges of Technology, the Advisory Board for People of Determination, and the work report of the Sustainable and Low Carbon Fuel Committee, for the year 2021.
