The missiles caused no damage to the ships.
Iran's supported Houthi rebels tried to attack three ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, the US Middle East Command Center (Centcom) announced on the X message service early Wednesday morning Finnish time.
According to Centcom, the Houthis fired six anti-ship ballistic missiles from Yemen towards the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. Three of the missiles apparently tried to hit the Greek-owned bulk carrier Star Nasia, which was sailing in the Gulf of Aden under the flag of the Marshall Islands. The ship reported an explosion near the ship early on Tuesday. According to Centcom, the explosion caused some damage, but no injuries.
A second missile later hit the sea near the ship, and a third missile was later shot down near Star Nas by the USS Laboon, a guided-missile destroyer of the US Navy.
According to Centcom, Star Nasia was not damaged by the attempted strikes, and it continues its journey as normal.
According to Centcom, the other three missiles were likely trying to hit the British-owned Morning Tide, which sails under the Barbados flag. Three missiles hit the sea near the ship. According to Centcom, the Morning Tide reported no damage and is continuing its voyage as normal.
