Early detection is key, as it helps manage symptoms and improve the quality of life of those affected. Thanks to new treatments, the prognosis of the disease has changed radically in the last 25 years and the majority of patients can lead a practically normal life.
In Maresme, the Neurology Service of the Mataró Hospital treats more than 200 people with this pathology each year. Thanks to the operation of the Day Hospital, staffed by neurologists and specialized nursing staff, these patients can receive their treatments on an outpatient basis and without the need to remain hospitalized. In this device, during 2023, more than 120 intravenous treatments were administered.
