Amazon is experimenting with a new way to fight i bombardment of negative reviewsso as to preserve the Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, his new series set in Tolkien’s world. As reported by Variety, the US giant is using the same system already used for A League of Their Own, postponing all user reviews by 72 hours.
The principle followed is simple: i troll they love to be among the first to throw mud on a work, so restraining them is equivalent to turning them off. Additionally, Amazon intends to review all reviews to determine which reviews are genuine and distinguish them from fake reviews created by bots, trolls, and other species of digital provocateurs. For A League of Their Own the system seems to have worked, as the series has a rating of 4.3 stars on Prime Video, with 80% of reviews giving it a 5-star rating and only 14% of 1 star.
It must be said that A League of Their Own has a user rating of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes, so the series has been highly rated even where reviews have not been limited. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power instead averages 39% on the same site, so the starting point is much more critical.
For the rest we remind you that The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has established the record of views for Amazon Prime Video. If you are interested in knowing more, you can read our review of the first two episodes.
