Conchi Abellán takes a step “to the side” and leaves the regional leadership but not the position on the Podemos executive at the national level
The coordinator of Podemos Catalonia, Conchi Abellán, He announced this Wednesday that he is leaving office “after years of dedication and work” taking a step “to the side” to take care of himself and regain strength. “This step aside is, for me, an opportunity to take care of myself and return with the strength and enthusiasm that this game and all of you deserve,” he wrote in a message on his personal X account.
Abellán thanked the efforts and commitment of the Podemos activists and the leadership in Madrid, especially the general secretary of Podemos and former minister, Ione Belarra, “for always being there, for the accompaniment and for their commitment” to the project.

Despite the resignation of the regional leadership, Abellán, who since 2020 has been the coordinator in Catalonia, does not leave office as Secretary of Municipal Policies of Podemos at the national level, for which he is part of the party executive, as reported by Ep. Abellán was a deputy in the Parliament of Catalonia between 2018 and 2020.
“I say goodbye now to come back stronger in a while, because now a person is needed with the ability to give 100% and there are people exceptionally prepared to do so and they will have my full support for it,” he wrote; and added: «I will remain close, accompanying them as always, because I am convinced that our project “It continues to be the benchmark for the transformation that this country needs.”
