The Permanent Commission of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) has approved on Tuesday a support measure to strengthen the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 3 of Catarroja, the dencargado of the instruction of the case of the management of the DANA. The Commission consists of a relief of functions in favor of a magistrate who will assume the ordinary functioning of the judicial body so that its owner, Nuria Ruiz Tobarra, can be responsible exclusively for the processing of the previous proceedings of the case of the catastrophe on October 29.
The reinforcement measure was requested on February 26 by the Government Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV) and during its processing the CGPJ has collected the favorable report indicating that the Court has registered a workload of 177 % in 2022, of 129 % in 2023 and 143 % in 2024.
The support measure will be extended initially until June 30, a period during which the holder of the Court will be entrusted exclusively for the processing of the DP 692/2024 and the guard service, while the commissioner – currently destined in the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 2 of Ontinyent – will assume the ordinary functioning of the judicial body.
In the event that the renewal of the measure to its completion is considered, the TSJCV must send to the CGPJ the corresponding proposal at least forty days compared to the expiration date.
