The head of the Court of Instruction number 41 of Madrid, Juan Carlos Peinado, has summoned the vice president of Economic Affairs of the Instituto de Empresa, Juan José Güemes, as a witness, whom the head of Human Resources of the academic institution pointed out as the person who was in charge of signing Begoña Gómezhired in the summer of 2018 to direct the Africa Center.
In a resolution to which ABC had access, Peinado also calls as a witness and on the same date Adriana Ángel, also linked to the Instituto de Empresa, according to what is recorded online. What she investigates, in line with the path set by the Provincial Court of Madrid, is the relationship between the “takeoff” of Begoña Gómez’s professional career and the arrival of her husband, Pedro Sánchez, to the presidency of the Government.
Güemes, who was Secretary General of Tourism in a government of José María Aznar and later, Minister of Health of the Community of Madrid under the presidency of Esperanza Aguirre, presides over the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation of the IE, a position that he combines with that of vice president of Economic Affairs of the institution.
According to what the head of Human Resources of the Instituto de Empresa, Sonsoles Blanca Gil de Antuñano, testified last Wednesday, it was he who entrusted her with hiring Begoña Gómez to direct the Africa Center and she limited herself to formalizing the procedures: an indefinite contract of 55,000 euros annually in 14 payments.
During his presentation, the instructor asked him about Güemes’s second surname and took good note, in his investigation into the way in which the president’s wife gained access to the academic institution.
