The judge of the National Court who instructs the Koldo case has ruled out summoning the president of the Congress of Deputies to testify as being investigated, Francina Armengolremembering that he lacks the competence to do so “as he is a person with privileges.”
In a car, the head of the Central Court of Instruction Number 2, Ismael Morenorejects the proceedings requested by the popular accusation exercised by the Liberum associationwhich also urged him to request a series of documentation from the Belears Health Service.
It should be noted that Liberum had asked to call Armengol to court for her work as former president of the Balearic Islands. The Central Operational Unit focuses on the autonomous community contract for the supply of masks with Business Management and Support Solutions SL – the key company in the case – for a value of 3.7 million euros.
The magistrate refuses to call a former counselor as a witness
The judge has also refused to summon the former Minister of Health of the Balearic Islands to testify as a witness, Patricia Gomez Picard. The magistrate assures with respect to this procedure, that “there is no minimum evidentiary support” that would justify his accusation as a participant in the events under investigation, without prejudice to what results in the future of the investigation.
In this procedure that is being investigated in the Central Court of Instruction Number 2 of the National Court, they are under the magnifying glass eight contracts awarded by different entities of the Public Administration with a global amount of 51,998,434 euros.
The judge investigates Koldo Garcia –the one who was an advisor to the former minister José Luis Ábalos– and other people for the alleged plot that would have paid commissions to obtain awards for the sale of masks in the pandemic. The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office attributes alleged crimes of criminal organization, money laundering, bribery, crimes against the Public Treasury and influence peddling.
