Last October 29, the day of the fateful DANA that caused 220 deaths in Valencia alone, the president of the Valencian Government, Carlos Mazón, maintained his agenda of events as if nothing was happening, despite the fact that there was a red level warning of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) from 7:36 a.m., another from the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation (CHJ) due to the risk of overflowing the Poyo ravine at 12.07 and numerous roads were already being cut off due to flooding.

Mazón also kept a meal at the Ventorro restaurant on his agenda, which the Presidency initially said was personal and, later, he rectified and assured that it was professional with the Valencian journalist Maribel Vilaplana. This has undoubtedly been the most controversial aspect of the president’s entire management in relation to DANA.
