The Investigative Committee began a pre-investigation check of Andrei Makarevich after his conversation with pranksters
Employees of the Investigative Committee of Russia (IC) began a pre-investigation check against the Russian rock musician and creator of the group “Time Machine” Andrei Makarevich (entered by the Ministry of Justice into the register of foreign agents) after a conversation with a prankster.
The musician will be checked for signs of public calls for extremist activities in his words (Article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
At the same time, earlier a source in law enforcement spoke about plans to test the singer for extremism and admitted that a criminal case could be opened against him for violating the rules of the activities of a foreign agent. The artist could face up to two years in prison.
Makarevich, during a conversation with a prankster, agreed to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The decision to begin the inspection was made after Makarevich spoke by phone with pranksters Vovan (Alexey Stolyarov) and Lexus (Vladimir Kuznetsov). The artist spoke with one of the pranksters, who introduced himself as Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, in May. Then the creator of the “Time Machine” group expressed support for Kyiv and declared a negative attitude towards the special military operation (SVO) in Ukraine.
The artist also did not rule out that in the future he would help the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), emphasizing that he had previously provided assistance to victims of hostilities.
On the first day of your victory, if you invite me, I will come with pleasure, and we will arrange a crazy concert. (..) I really want your victory, I’m counting the days until it
In addition, Makarevich spoke in a conversation with Zelensky about his return to Russia. According to him, he has not been to his homeland for about two years and he has no desire to return. “I’m definitely not going to sing for them,” he noted. The artist added that he feels at home in Israel. The musician has citizenship of this country.
The Kremlin assessed the possibility of depriving Makarevich of the title of People’s Artist
After a recording of the artist’s conversation with the prankster was published online, State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzaev called for recognizing the musician as an extremist. According to the official, the musician’s statements indicate that he is against Russia. The deputy noted that he would like to block Makarevich’s entry into his homeland during his lifetime as an extremist and terrorist and prosecute him with the seizure of real estate and earnings.
At the same time, Makarevich has already lost one business after a conversation with the prankster. We are talking about a joint business between the musician and producer Nikolai Bilyk. The partners owned Samy Smak LLC, which produced the TV show Smak. After statements by the creator of the Time Machine group, Bilyk decided to leave the business.

Meanwhile, Advisor to the President of Russia, ex-State Duma deputy Elena Yampolskaya assessed the possibility of depriving the musician of the title of People’s Artist. She recalled that this procedure is possible if a person is convicted under a number of articles, for example, for the rehabilitation of Nazism, calls for extremism and other offenses. “We need a case and a court decision. There are no other mechanisms for depriving titles and awards,” she concluded.
