Martínez, who has been participating in the festivities since almost their beginning, read a proclamation in which he listed each of the events that will take place during these holidays, without failing to mention that it is a tribute to the ancestors. of the current Ciezanos, who “heroically” defended the town on April 6, 1477 against the troops of King Abu-L-Hassan.
He emphasized that what happened should not be forgotten “as a way to contribute to the greatness of our city, our beloved Cieza,” he said. The town crier also said that the historical rigor with which the events are reproduced “must be a very important aspect so that, finally, the declaration of regional tourist interest is achieved.”
At the end of the event, the president of the Brotherhood of San Bartolomé, Cristóbal Herrera, and the mayor of the city, Tomás Rubio, gave recognition to the crier, who also had the opportunity to sign the book of these festivities, which will take place between the 26th and 28th of this month.
