The controversy began, after the spread of a video clip showing a restaurant waiter placing a plate of “mansaf” food inside the vehicle of a Jordanian representative, after the end of a luncheon hosted by the Ministry of Culture for Prime Minister Bishr Al-Khasawneh in Irbid Governorate, in the north of the Kingdom.
The banquet was attended by a number of ministers and representatives, where news of the event was widely circulated on social media platforms.
The controversy spread to the parliament after MP Fawaz Al-Zoubi’s comment on the incident, as he expressed his anger over the filming of the video that shows placing a plate of “mansaf” (the most popular meal in the country) inside his car.
He explained that he bought Mansaf and put it in his car to present it to a friend in Amman, stressing that he does not need to take “Mansaf Sidr” from meeting officials in Irbid.
He remarkably attacked a journalist who accused him of publishing the video to offend him.
The controversy returned to social networking sites after Al-Zoubi talked about buying Mansaf for his friend in the capital, Amman, but tweets were upset about the reason for buying a “Mansaf” food dish from the city of Irbid and transferring it to the capital, which has a large number of restaurants.
The Jordanian Ministry of Culture did not comment on the incident.
