The Valencia City Council has decided to assume the construction of the 227 social rental homes that awarded a real estate promoter, husband of a PP deputy in Congress, after his resignation to the contract. The businessman Javier Timoner, whose promoter won the ‘Supercontract’ for construction in four municipal property plots (with clean benefits calculated at 155 million euros) has renounced the award as a result of the “flight of the necessary capital” after what which considers “insidies” of the municipal opposition. The real estate promoter is married to Alma Alfonso, deputy and leader of the PP of València and Autonomic.

For its part, the mayor of Valencia, María José Catalá, announced on Tuesday that the City Council will build the 227 social rental homes, in four municipal lots located in Nou Moles and Faitanar. Catalá has lamented that the “ahucent” opposition private investment aimed at the construction of protected housing in a “totally transparent and public concurrence” procedure, as stated in a statement.
“They did not settle for only 14 protected homes in the eight government, with the most painful balance in the history of this city, but now they are dedicated to boycotting protected housing projects,” added the first mayor.
The promoter, as reported by eldiario.es, appeared alone to the bidding process. The contract, according to the Technical Prescriptions, included three plots in the neighborhood of Nou Moles of the district of L’Olivereta, with a total area of 3,327 square meters, and a fourth plot-the R-15, of 1,728 square meters- In the Torre de los Villadas del Sur sector, a neighborhood located on the other side of the new channel of Túria that was completely razed by the catastrophic Dana on October 29.

The opposition, meanwhile, has claimed to Catalá that the municipal public company Aumsa assumes the construction of homes.
