UFC head White called those who consider Makhachev the best P4P fighter crazy
The head of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Dana White refused to consider Russian Islam Makhachev the best fighter regardless of weight categories (P4P). He stated this at a press conference after the UFC 302 tournament, a recording of which is available on YouTube-promotion channel.
White called those who consider Makhachev the best P4P fighter crazy while American Jon Jones continues to enter the Octagon. “As long as Jones continues to fight and is in the rankings, no one else can be considered the best,” he said. At the same time, the head of the UFC admitted that Makhachev is an incredible fighter.
On the night of June 2, Makhachev defeated American Dustin Poirier in the main fight of the UFC 302 tournament. The Russian won by choke in the fifth round and defended the UFC lightweight champion title for the third time.
32-year-old Makhachev won the 26th victory of his career with only one defeat. 35-year-old Poirier lost his ninth fight in MMA, he has 30 victories. Another fight with his participation was declared invalid.
