His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, received First Lady Olena Zelenska, wife of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Chairwoman of the Olena Zelenska Foundation for Charitable Organizations, who is visiting the country to participate in the second edition of the “Forbes 30/50 Summit” that she is hosting. Abu Dhabi from 7 to 10 March.
At the beginning of the meeting – which took place in the Council of Al-Bahr Palace – His Highness welcomed Ms. Olena Zelenska, and exchanged cordial conversations with her, and was briefed on the repercussions of the Ukrainian crisis on the human level, especially on children.
His Highness, the President of the State, directed that four million dollars be provided for the care of children affected by the crisis in favor of one of the projects that the Foundation is working on under the name “Family Orphan Homes”, as it will contribute to the construction of 10 buildings that will house about 100 children. His Highness affirmed that the UAE will spare no effort in working to mitigate the humanitarian effects of this crisis at all levels and to actively contribute to any international or regional effort aimed at containing these effects, based on its moral values and its well-established humanitarian approach on the international scene.
For her part, Mrs. Olena Zelenska, wife of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, expressed her thanks to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his support and humanitarian stances, during the crisis since its inception, and for the assistance provided by the UAE to Ukrainian refugees in neighboring countries.
During her visit, the Ukrainian first lady will meet the Ukrainian community hosted by the UAE.
The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Her Excellency Maryam bint Muhammad Al Muhairi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment.
