The controversy continues to grow around the Spanish women’s soccer team, the coach Jorge Vilda and the Federation itself. To the epidosio of the 15 players who refused to be summoned in this national team break, one more is added, and that is that RTVE has launched a harsh attack on the women’s national team coach.
In the program La Hora de la 1, the editor Olivia Freijo cited sources from the Federation “who know how the Spanish women’s team works”, and has assured that the coach of La Roja is “a controlling person, a despot who does and undoes and that makes life impossible for those who overshadow it”.
Freijo has cited that among those harmed by the coach of the women’s national team would be Pedro López, former coach of the women’s under-20 team who left office after proclaiming himself world champion this summer, and Toña Is, former coach of the categories women’s juniors, who made the U-17 team world champion in 2018, and who was fired at the beginning of 2020,
From the program, the aforementioned informant has stressed that in the circles close to the women’s team mentioned above, there is a widespread rumor that Toña Is was a victim of workplace harassment by Vilda. In fact, it was already pointed out that her departure from the Spanish Federation responded to reasons that were not merely sporting.
For her part, Toña Is refused to give statements, and it is that, according to the same source, there is a confidentiality clause in her contract
At the moment, Vilda has not come out against these accusations and currently the coach is concentrated with the national team to face the international commitments of the next few days against Sweden and the United States.
