The bar Handshake Speakeasy from Mexico has been chosen the best in the world, according to the international ranking World’s 50 Best Bars 2024in an edition that was held in Madrid for the first time.
For its part, andl Sips from Barcelona, which last year was proclaimed the best in the world, has placed third in 2024, and first in Europe.
World’s 50 Best Bars 2024 is an international ranking of bars prepared annually by more than 650 experts from all over the world which has been published since 2009 and has become the most anticipated classification for those who are part of this sector. Within the top 50 positions on this list there are three Spanish cocktail bars: Sips, Paradiso and Salmon Guru.

The best bar in the world, Mexican
Handshake Speakeasy is a prestigious cocktail bar located on Calle Antwerp, in the neighborhood of Colonia Juárez, Mexico City. Last year it ranked third in the ranking.
As described on their website, “the drinks list is minimalist, but since the main bartender Eric Van Beek uses advanced culinary techniques in preparation. Each drink is more complex than it seems, often taking 48 hours to make from start to finish, and often featuring unexpected textures.” Also, “there is a laboratory on site with lab director Yiyi Aparicio at the helm, hidden in the heart of the bar, where the team experiments daily.”
On the website of the best cocktail bar in the world in 2024 they recommend ordering “the Fig MartiniVan Beek’s first creation for the bar” or try “a popular drink from the current menu, Salt N Pepper, a drink of fresh mezcal and spicy with strawberries and green peppers.
