The President of the Government, Pedro Sanchezannounced this Monday a second royal decree with new initiatives to provide an immediate response to those affected by the DANA floods, but which will also include measures “of a structural nature” to deal with this type of emergencies, which “unfortunately are going to happen recurrently in the Iberian Peninsula”, due to climate change.
And among these measures, Sánchez has announced that they will include modifications even in the exam to obtain a driving license: “In driving training, we propose a modification in the civil protection law so that everything that has to do with teaching when driving and attending to emergencies when we are in the car, are incorporated on a mandatory basis” .
Sánchez has announced that the royal decree law approved by the Council of Ministers has “110 additional measures and an investment of 3,765 million euros”. The president explained that with this amount “the social shield” will be expanded and, among other measures, an “immediate advance payment” of 50% will be guaranteed when applying for aid.
Likewise, he explained that they have decided “to extend this aid to the homeowners with damage to their homes that, although they did not live in them, they rented them”, as well as an extension of compensation for loss of belongings to tenants and goods that are not essential.
Last week the Council of Ministers approved a first package of measures worth 10.6 billion euros to help individuals, self-employed workers and companies with urgent aid for those affected in 78 municipalities, mainly in the autonomous communities of Valencia, Castilian-La Mancha and Andalusia.
