The Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration has decided to rule out the use of the airport facilities in Royal City to build an Emergency Care and Referral Center (CAED) for “technical reasons.”
As reported by Ministry sources this Thursday, the decision was made after “prospecting weeks” and the Government will continue with these tasks to look for other facilities and resources with which to address the immigration situation derived from irregular arrivals to the Canary Islands.
The announcement comes after weeks of controversy over the possibility that the Government could dedicate this infrastructure to care for migrants, a plan that has met with frontal rejection from the autonomous government of Emiliano García-Page (PSOE) and the mayor of the city. , Francisco Cañizares (PP).
