British Prime Minister Liz Truss said yesterday, after speaking with the country’s new King Charles yesterday evening, that he had a sense of responsibility and a desire to serve the country, even as he mourned the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth.
“I was grateful to speak to His Majesty last night and offer my condolences, even as he is grieving, his sense of duty and desire to serve is clear,” she said, addressing Parliament. Yesterday, the British government confirmed that the new government of Prime Minister Liz Terrace fully supports King Charles III, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. “The government is united in its support for His Majesty, while the United Kingdom continues to mourn the death of his mother,” a government spokesman told reporters, adding that the ministers observed a minute’s silence for the late Queen’s soul.
