The head-on clash between the Government and the opposition that marks Spanish politics has managed to permeate the dynamics of the functioning of the community institutions, which face an unprecedented blockage in the configuration of the new Commission due to the maneuvers of the Spanish Popular Party. With the pact between conservatives, social democrats and liberals in the air, from Moncloa they attack Alberto Núñez Feijóo for his efforts to bring the partisan war to Brussels due to the DANA tragedy.
“Here the one who has to give explanations for their irresponsibility is the PP. Feijóo projects his frustration and lack of leadership both inside and outside Spain. What they do is shake the stability of the European institutions, the true heart of Europe, something that has never happened until now,” spokesperson Pilar Alegría denounced at the press conference after the Council of Ministers.
Alegría has demanded “responsibility” from the opposition and has once again sent an unequivocal message of support for Ribera from Moncloa. “All the support and recognition to Teresa Ribera, the best candidate for the first vice presidency of the Commission,” he defended.
Questioned as to whether the Socialists are now willing to swallow the toad of supporting Meloni’s ultra candidate in exchange for the cross vetoes to decline and Ribera’s candidacy to be saved, the Executive spokesperson preferred to avoid the details. “We are where we were in July, a pact between the three great European families,” he simply stated.
“We would not be in this if the PP were not trying to blow up said agreement based on short-term and low-flying strategies,” insisted Pilar Alegría, who despite her harsh tone against the opposition has avoided for another week criticizing the the management of Carlos Mazón, of whom the Valencian socialists are already demanding the resignation or dismissal.
