THE GIRL WHO LOVED MIYAZAKI By Silvia Casini, Raffaella Fenoglio and Francesco Pasqua Illustrations by Giulia Tomai
A tribute to the master of Japanese animation Hayao Miyazaki, an irresistible novel for all lovers of manga, art and Japan
Sofia is eighteen years old and has an unbridled passion for the great Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki. Her dream of becoming a mangaka – a manga illustrator – seems unattainable in the small village of Valvento where she lives, where no one shares her passion. But little by little the walls of the town are covered with images inspired by Miyazaki’s films created by a mysterious writer, Pagot. Determined to discover her identity, Sofia will embark on a journey that will lead her to confront her fears and discover the strength of her talent.
Written by Silvia Casini, Raffaella Fenoglio and Francesco Pasqua, The Girl Who Loved Miyazaki is a compelling story that celebrates the importance of following your dreams and the power of love. A hymn to creativity and passion, masterfully illustrated by Giulia Tomai, perfect for those with a weakness for Japan, manga and Miyazaki’s animated films.
“My name is Sofia Sanleo, eighteen years old last January, I dream of becoming a professional mangaka. I know Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbor Totoro and Porco Rosso frame for frame.”
