Cristiano Ronaldo, like anyone else, wrote a Christmas letter to Santa Claus with the gifts he wanted. Of course, his letter is not like that of other mortals and what he has asked is out of the ordinary.
We will see if Santa Claus satisfies the Portuguese player, or if on the contrary in 2022 he will have to behave better so that he brings him everything he has asked for. For now, this is what he asked for on Christmas Eve.
First of all, and in capital letters, Cristiano Ronaldo has written in his letter that he wants to play at the World Cup in Qatar. The Portuguese team will play their place in the play-off where they will face Turkey first and if they win the match against the winner of Italy – Macedonia. A complicated path for the Portuguese ahead of him, who may be before his last chance to play a World Cup. It would be a failure for him to be left out.
And after going to the World Cup, Cristiano wants to be among the top scorers. The Portuguese has played four world championships so far and has seven goals, to enter the Top 10 he needs three more goals and would be placed with 10, the same as Batistuta, Lineker and Rahn.
If he does not succeed in the Qatar event, it seems very difficult for him to reach the 2026 World Cup since by then he would be 41 years old. Although with Cristiano everything is possible.
It seems complicated, if not impossible, that Cristiano Ronaldo can retire as the footballer who has won the Ballon d’Or the most times. Surely the Portuguese would like to add a new award to his collection, but if he does not achieve it, at least Leo Messi don’t keep adding.
Cristiano Ronaldo is a true predator in the area, but even in that aspect Leo Messi surpasses him. The Argentine player has won the Golden Boot six times, against the Portuguese four, which he has not won since the 2014/2015 season.
For the Portuguese it seems that it will be easier to win the Golden Boot than the Ballon d’Or, although with Lewandowski in the middle he will need a Christmas miracle.
Manchester United have been trying for years to return to their rightful place in both England and Europe, but to no avail. Cristiano’s return to Old Trafford has been a coup but not everything has been praise for his signing, he has also received criticism and discomfort from some of his teammates.
And what better way to shut our mouths than to make Manchester United European champions with one of his goals … or more than one.
Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were the main players in the market with their signings for PSG and Manchester United respectively. And so far, at the individual level, the performance of the Portuguese is being much higher than that of a Messi who does not finish emerging in Paris.
For Cristiano and his interests, it would be a good sign that Messi’s star fades in Paris.
Cristiano Ronaldo pursues the record of being the player with the most caps in the history of this sport. The Portuguese has 184, tying with Egypt’s Hassan and has beaten Ramos in four games. Ahead is Al-Mutawa who leads 186.
The easiest way for Cristiano to achieve his goal is for both Mutawa and Ramos not to go with their national team … and for now the Spanish defender has lost his position. We will see if Luis Enrique calls him again or takes away competition from the Portuguese.
Cristiano holds the record of being the player who has scored the most goals in an edition of the Champions League: 17. That record can be threatened by Ajax’s Sebastien Haller who has 10 and Robert Lewandowski who has 9.
If in the qualifying rounds they show the same aim as in the group stage, Cristiano will have reason to tremble.
