This Thursday, employers and unions in the transport sector reached an agreement agreement and have called off the general strike for workers which was going to start this Monday, as reported by the Spanish Confederation of Freight Transport (CETM) in a statement.
“Tonight at the headquarters of the Interconfederal Mediation and Arbitration Service (SIMA), the Spanish Confederation of Freight Transport (CETM) has reached an agreement with the unions, CCOO and UGT, which represents the call for strike by professional drivers which was going to start next Monday, October 28,” the organization indicated.
The details of the pact reached will be communicated throughout this Friday, CETM added. Both employers and unions met this Thursday at the SIMA headquarters to reach an agreement regarding early retirement for the sector.
The unions had called strike days planned for several days in October, November and December. The appeal was addressed to the transport professionals in the freight sectorboth those who drive heavy trucks and other smaller ones, such as vans, including those that deliver orders to homes.
In addition, professionals in the health sector were called to mobilize. road passenger transport who work in vehicles with more than nine seats, that is, buses and minibuses, as well as drivers of publicly owned urban public transport and healthcare drivers, such as ambulances.
