The FSIN is trying to return the moral right to torture to the security forces by criminalizing the activities of prisoners. This was announced on Wednesday, December 8, by the founder of the Gulagu.net project Vladimir Osechkin on the air of the radio station. Echo of Moscow…
Osechkin said that, according to his information, in a number of regions “an operational combination” related to the criminalization of the activities of prisoners is being developed in order to return the special forces of the FSIN and FSB the right to “beat them without exception”.
For this purpose, according to him, the employees of the colonies are engaged in provocations. “In the Irkutsk colony No. 2, where the prosecutor left for supervision today, a few days ago there was a provocation on the part of employees who specifically insulted the prisoner so that he would allegedly commit an attack, so that later this video would be shown on all TV channels,” the publication quotes the human rights activist.

Osechkin noted that the same situation arose in Primorye – after a successful provocation, the special forces of the Federal Penitentiary Service and the FSB were allowed into the colony, the fighters beat more than 150 people, 16 were seriously injured, one person died due to lack of medical assistance a day after the beating. Another person, according to the human rights activist, was raped.
On October 5, the human rights project Gulagu.net published a video of the rape of prisoners in the hospital of the Saratov Federal Penitentiary Service. According to human rights activist Vladimir Osechkin, 40 gigabytes of video recordings of the torture of prisoners were filmed by FSIN officers on service video recorders. Later, other recordings of the torture of prisoners began to appear. Criminal cases were initiated, the situation was taken over by the Prosecutor General’s Office, the State Duma and the Federation Council.
On November 25, Russian President Vladimir Putin dismissed the head of the Federal Penitentiary Service, Alexander Kalashnikov. According to Interfax, the reason was the resonance around the situation with torture in the colonies. The head of state appointed Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Colonel-General of Internal Service Arkady Gostev as the new head of the department.
