The first truck full of humanitarian aid collected in neighborhood associations thanks to donations from Cartagena and stored in the Cartagena Security Park, left on Saturday afternoon for Ukraine, as confirmed by the mayor, Noelia Arroyo, and it will take a day and a half to reach the Polish-Ukrainian border.

The association of Ukrainians in Cartagena is very grateful for the response they are receiving from the society of Cartagena and ensures that material continuously arrives from the many collection points that have been set up in the municipality.

Material that they store, select and pack in the Civil Protection warehouse of the Security Park, and that allowed them to fill the first truck that the Disfrimur company will selflessly transport to Ukraine to the border between Poland and Ukraine, to be able to access the country by one of the humanitarian corridors.

The mayor thanked the work being carried out by the staff of Social Services and Civil Protection of the City Council of Cartagena in this device, which together with the association of Ukrainians, is working in a network to collect the material donated in the neighborhood residents’ associations and councils , and later transfer it to the facilities of the Security Park.

«Networking gives results and here we have the proof. In record time, all the material donated by Cartagena was collected, stored, classified and packaged and a great job was done so that this aid arrived as soon as possible in the conflict zone,” says Arroyo.

For the work to be as effective as possible, says the mayor, the people of Cartagena must deposit the aid at the collection points set up in the neighborhood associations, which is then stored in the security park for classification.

Among the material that is sent in this first convoy that leaves for Ukraine is added non-perishable food, medicines and medical supplies, which were commissioned to select and classify the NGO Farmamundi.
