Each user can spend a maximum of three days at the facilities, which offer drinking water and a picnic area
The first free rest area for motorhomes on the coast of the Region is already a reality. This facility opened its doors last weekend in Los Alcázares in a ceremony attended by more than a hundred owners of these vehicles. All of them enjoyed a few days full of activities, such as a boat trip on the Mar Menor or a route on the tourist train.
The new rest area, promoted through the Department of Tourism and Beaches, offers users different services, such as drinking water, gray water emptying, black water emptying or a picnic area. The new facilities allow a maximum overnight stay of 72 hours per user.
«It has been a pride to inaugurate this new space that will enrich Los Alcázares. A facility that complements our tourist offer with more than 4,000 hotel beds and 500 places for itinerant tourism; and that, I am sure, will attract more visitors”, assured the Councilor for Tourism, María José Díaz.
To start it up, it has been necessary to rehabilitate facilities that had been closed for more than ten years. According to municipal sources, the fence was repaired, as well as the improvement of lighting, signage and pruning of trees.
With these more than 30 new places, the municipality already has nearly 500 places available, between public and private, for itinerant tourism, which is booming after the pandemic. The new rest area has been included in the ‘app’ and the website of AreasAC, a specialized portal.
