And the American network “CNN” reported that part of a security package worth 60 million arrived in Ukraine, two days ago, according to what was announced by the Office of Political and Military Affairs in the US State Department.
The US supplies include ammunition and light weapons, such as quantities of the Javelin missile, which is known as the “Tank Hunter”, and the supplies also include non-combat equipment, according to the US Department of Defense.
Another part of the US aid package is due to be delivered early next year, and it includes four anti-mortar radars.
US President Joe Biden gave another light to this aid package on September 1, when he received his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky.
Tensions have escalated between Russia and Ukraine in recent weeks, amid harbingers of war, with Western reports of Moscow’s intention to invade Ukraine after massing huge forces on the latter’s borders, but the Kremlin denied plans to invade Ukraine.
But Russia’s president, Vladimir Putin, has warned that the conflict in eastern Ukraine between government forces and Moscow-born separatists amounts to “genocide”, which some have interpreted as a pretext for military intervention.
And after his summit with Putin, Biden confirmed his exclusion of the deployment of US forces in Ukraine.
He told reporters at the White House that Washington could strengthen its military presence in NATO countries, help Ukraine develop its defense capabilities, and impose massive economic sanctions on Moscow.
Since the beginning of this year (2021), the United States has delivered to Ukraine military equipment worth 450 million dollars, including those that have recently arrived.
It is noteworthy that since 2014, after Russia invaded the Crimean peninsula, Washington has provided about 2.5 billion dollars in aid to the Ukrainians.
