The FIC, Festival of Ideas and Culture of elDiario.es, has been awarded the CLABE Award for the best event in the 17th edition of the CLABE Awards for Journalism and Communication.
The jury of Open Editors Club has pointed out that the Festival of Ideas and Culture stands out “as a vibrant space for exchange and reflection, bringing together diverse voices and promoting critical debate on central issues in our society.” The ruling also highlights its “ability to connect with the audience and encourage constructive and enriching dialogue.”
The FIC was born in 2022, when elDiario.es celebrated its 10th anniversary with a great Festival in the city of Valencia. In 2023 the FIC moved to A Coruña and in 2024 it was held in the center of Barcelona. Inspired by large international media events, the FIC is a large citizen meeting with concerts, talks, monologues, humor and shows where numerous national and international personalities from journalism, thought, activism, literature or television are present. .
In its three editions, tens of thousands of people have enjoyed this free event and massive concerts such as those by Kiko Veneno and Ariel Rot, Leon Benavente and Sidonie. International personalities of the stature of Jane Goodall, Noam Chomsky, Roberto Saviano and Margaret Atwood have attended the FIC, in an event that has established itself as the great journalistic and citizen meeting of our country, demonstrating a unique capacity to attract people.
The CLABE award was collected at a gala held at the CaixaForum by the director of elDiario.es Ignacio Escolar, who wanted to especially thank the members of elDiario.es for the award. “This Festival is a way to get to the streets, to be in the squares,” he explained, adding that it is “a format that combines live music with theater, with talks, with conferences… in a square open to the public. and completely free.”
The director of elDiario.es has highlighted that the objective of the FIC is to get closer to people, “because many times digital newspapers are perceived as something that cannot be touched, that cannot be grabbed, and this is a way of attracting the people who read us, who follow us or who support us financially to a physical space, to share that time with us.”
The Jury of the XVII CLABE Awards has taken into consideration the works, the professionals and the titles or projects that have been presented by those associated with CLABE, the largest association of press, magazines and periodicals in Spain by number of editorial groups and titles. represented. ElDiario.es was awarded among the 33 finalists chosen from the more than 110 candidates presented for the categories established in this edition.
