The monotonous morning sound of the television fell silent and the silence was like an alarm call. We paid attention to the screen that offered us an unusual image of the Congress of Deputies. Their honors, standing before their seats and the president, in her preeminent place at the Table, but not a fly could be heard. The robotic cameras offered the audience different perspectives of the chamber where no one shouted, gestured or insulted. Not to believe. “What’s wrong?” they asked in the breakfast bar when they detected such thunderous silence. “An angel has passed by,” responded a lady who almost choked on the bun soaked in coffee with milk. It was no wonder that, for a moment, the world of politics, often vociferous and lacking, offered us an image of unity in respect and pain, impacted and moved by the drama that a good part of the citizens suffered due to the catastrophe that the day before had devastated the Spanish Levant. Well yes, it had passed exterminating angel.
At that time, we did not know nor could we imagine that our people were suffering the greatest catastrophe in history with unusual consequences. It only lasted a minute, but our political elite responded to the people’s expectations with empathy in the face of the climate misfortune with obvious consequences suffered firsthand.
