The EU will resume collecting duties on oat imports from Ukraine
The European Union decided to resume the collection of import duties on Ukrainian oats in the context of the decision on free duty-free import of agricultural goods from Ukraine. This is stated in a document published in the official journal of the EU, writes RIA News.
“The tariff (for oats) is restored until December 31, 2024,” the statement said.
It is clarified that the duty is restored within the framework of the mechanism of “emergency braking” of imports in connection with exceeding the established maximum standards for the import of these products into the EU countries.
The day before it was reported that in April the European Union purchased food waste from Ukraine for a record amount in the history of their mutual trade.
In particular, the EU purchased food waste from Ukraine for a record 86 million euros. Compared to March, the figure increased by almost a third – by 27 percent.
Earlier, member of the French Parliament Emmanuel Taché de la Pagerie said that the increase in grain imports from Ukraine creates an unfair situation in the French market. Farmers “express deep disappointment” over the government’s strategy, which they consider a failure.
